How to Make Your Own Natural All-Purpose Cleaner

Why pay for a bottle of mostly water and fragrance when three pantry ingredients clean most of your home just as well?

A simple all-purpose cleaner takes about two minutes to mix and costs a fraction of store-bought spray. You probably already have everything you need.

What you need

  • One part white vinegar
  • One part water
  • Ten drops of tea tree or lemon essential oil
  • A clean spray bottle

How to make it

  • Pour the vinegar and water into the bottle
  • Add the essential oil for scent and extra cleaning power
  • Shake gently before each use
  • Spray and wipe with a reusable cloth

Skip vinegar on natural stone counters, where its acidity can etch the surface. For stone, use a few drops of mild dish soap in water instead.

Why this recipe works

Vinegar cuts grease and kills some bacteria, while the essential oil leaves a light, fresh scent that fades fast.

  • Tea tree adds a natural antibacterial boost
  • Lemon brightens and deodorizes
  • Lavender is great for bedrooms

Make a fresh batch every two weeks and keep it under the sink, and you will never reach for a store-bought spray again.
